Yay Friday is here!! After classes today I met my friend for a coffee. I love tinderbox, they have so many delicious cakes and they also do such funky patterns in your coffee. I usually go for a chai latte, but I felt I needed a coffee today to help me through my assignments which I intend to work on this afternoon.

Sorry this is a rather boring/uninspiring post. I have a really fun blog post planned for Sunday if all works out, which involves a video too. Will see!!

Has anyone got any exciting plans for the weekend? xx

Pen Pal Exchange.

Thursday, 24 February 2011

Hi lovelies, just a quick post as I'm finally on a roll with my essay and then I need to get ready for my friends' 21st party (I still have no idea what I'm going to wear!!). Just in case any of you haven't heard, Gem had a great idea about doing a little blog pen pal exchange. I love receiving nice letters in the post and I think it's such a fun idea. Def get involved if you haven't already, the closing date is the 28th of Feb and all you need to do is leave a comment on her blog on this post here

I came across Bianca's lovely blog yesterday and it's given me some amazing idea's on how to create an exciting envelope :) I hope some of these inspire you too, whether you're joining in on the pen pal exchange or just writing to someone in general.

So fun hey? Hope you're all having a great week :) xxx

Ten things I love - illustration edition.

Tuesday, 22 February 2011

Happy Tuesday guys. I hope you're having a good week, I'm busy with uni work and getting my CV ready. I figured it was about time I went on the job hunt again since my Uni timetable isn't as busy as last semester. Wish me luck!! I've recently seen so many illustrations that I love, so I figured I would share them with all of you too for this weeks 'Ten things I love' post, so here they are..

Love this idea by Liz of illustrating doodles/letterings of everyday conversations..

Love this sketch of your typical desk by Jen Collins.

Love these cute illustrations by The snail and the teacup.

Amazing illustration by Fee Harding from Burnt Feather.

These beautiful illustrations are part of the endangered animal series by Sandra Dieckmann and Jamie Mills. You can buy these as cards too!!

These cute illustrations are done by the wonderful Tabitha Emma, she's also the one who designed the beautiful images for my blog.

As you can see I'm really into feathers!! I love these stunning portraits done by Kelly Thompson

Tea!! I found this illustrator through Tabitha's blog. I love this little watercolour by Laurie Coyle.

Love these designs by Jan Avendano. So fun!!

And finally, how can anyone not adore these cute paintings by Elise from A Beautiful Mess. She's one of my favourite bloggers and she inspires me so often with her positive attitude and creative posts.

Hope you enjoyed these as much as I did.

Weekend musings..

Sunday, 20 February 2011

Hi guys, hope you've all had a nice and relaxing weekend. I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone's kind and lovely comments on my last post. I'm overwhelmed by how supportive and sweet you all are. I like doing the odd outfit post just to share a bit about me and my style, I'm certainly no fashionista, but it means so much that you all comment on my outfits. Thanks so much!! Here are some fun photos from my week.

1.  As I said in my last post, I'm getting back into art so I've been practicing with my new little watercolour palette. I'll share some photos of what I've been doing soon :)
2. Just a pretty photo of our view from the living room.
3. Some new products I bought from the Body Shop. I've always wanted to give Vitamin E a try, so I bought the toner and night cream. I find my Neutrogena products can be quite drying so I figured this might be a nice way to hydrate my skin but still fight imperfections etc.
4. I surprised my bf with pancakes this morning. He's been so busy at Uni working on a big 4th year project, so I wanted to do something nice for him.
5. A rather rubbish pic of Edinburgh. I met my mum and sisters for lunch which was really nice.
6. A pic of my little sis with her cute hat and camera. We popped into BiBi's cupcake shop too, I got a chocolate cheesecake one. Soooo yummy!!
Overall it was a pretty good week, although I haven't achieved as much Uni work as I had hoped. My deadlines are a couple of weeks away but I sometimes find it really hard to motivate myself. But luckily today I've finally pushed myself to get on with it all. I think I'm just a bit essay'd out... if any of you do English as a subject at Uni then you'll def know where I'm coming from.

Thanks for reading and I hope you all had an amazing weekend xxx

Where do you go to my lovely?

Outfit - Topshop
Shoes - Kurt Geiger
Bag  - Mulberry

Hi there! I hope you've all had a good week. I've been working on some articles for my Uni newspaper and trying to start a Journalism essay. I'd love to know how many essays I've written over the past ten years, I'm guessing it'll be up in the hundreds. I always find starting them is the hardest part.

I've also been working on a new art journal, which I might share on here at some point. I'm no 'artist' or anything, but I really miss having a little sketchbook so I've been doing a couple of illustrations here and there.

Above are some pictures of what I wore today. It's been pretty overcast but I was fed up of sitting indoors so I popped out with my bf for an hour or so. For valentine's day my bf got me the Miranda DVD so I think we're going to watch that tonight. She's hilarious.

Quick shout out to some of my new readers!! Thanks so much for following my blog, you've made my day and I hope you enjoy my future posts :)

Moroccan Oil review

Thursday, 17 February 2011

Hi everyone, I thought it was about time I did a review on the Moroccan Oil hair treatment. I bought this product back in December after I got my hair cut and curled. I was told by my stylist that my hair was dry and that I needed some good conditioning products. Without realizing the price of Moroccan Oil (my 200ml bottle was £39) I happily agreed to add it to my basket, I then freaked out when I double checked the receipt at home!! I don’t usually spend this much on hair products so I thought it was worth giving it a thorough review after using it every other day for 2 months.

The product claims to:
• Revive hair

• Strengthens and conditions

• Reduces drying time

I would happily agree that it ticks all three boxes. My hair is certainly looking healthier than it has done in a long time. I’ve noticed a large reduction in split ends and have found that my hair isn’t as knotty as it used to be. It's also really soft to touch after blowdrying. However, I’m unsure if this is all Moroccan Oil’s doing as I use SP Repair shampoo, conditioner and mask (see my full hair routine here) which I feel have played some part in getting my hair healthy and strong again.

I would also agree that it definitely reduces drying time. Apparently the product has a unique formula which is instantly absorbed by the hair. I blow dry my hair for 5 minutes and it’s perfectly dry by the end (usually it would take my hair around ten minutes to dry properly without this product).

So overall I'd give this product a rating of: ★★★

The only downsides are that it’s still slightly on the expensive side however, it is lasting a long time. I’ve had it two months and I’m not nearly half way through the bottle. I also feel my hair can sometimes be slightly frizzy after blow drying. Yet since I have curly hair now, I know my hair is more prone to frizz than straight hair. I had just hoped this product would eradicate that too.

To summarise - I’m really happy with this product. It smells amazing and makes your hair feel really healthy and soft. It’s also really simple to apply and the way it’s quickly absorbed into the hair means that you’re not left feeling like your hair is being weighed down by products. I think I will definitely keep this product as an essential part of my hair care routine.

Have any of you tried Moroccan Oil or any other of their products? What did you think?

Never let me go.

Tuesday, 15 February 2011

It had never occurred to me that our lives, which had been so closely interwoven, could unravel with such speed. If I'd known, maybe I'd have kept tighter hold of them and not let unseen tides pull us apart. - Never Let Me Go.

I saw this film last night with my bf and it's fair to say I had to try really really hard not to be a blubbering mess throughout this film. It was achingly sad, beautifully acted and portrays the fleeting nature of human life. I loved it, but I could never sit through it again. It was just too sad.

Jumper - H&M
T-Shirt - Topshop
Shorts - H&M
Boots - Carvela
Bag - Mulberry

Hi there! Thank you for all your wonderful feedback on my blog's new design, I'm so happy with it. This is what I wore today, we snapped these pics after having some lunch in Merchant City. It's so nice to get some decent weather for a change. For the rest of today I'll be working on my column for the next issue, starting a list of assignments due this month and maybe baking some banana bread.

Has anyone made any exciting plans for Valentine's day? I'm not a huge fan of the day, not because I don't have a great time with my bf, but because I see it as just another ploy by shops to buy buy buy. I don't think we should rely on this day to show someone we love them. Saying that I'm really looking forward to going to my fav restaurant tomorrow and then heading to the cinema to see Never Let Me Go. Yay!! Perfect date.

Below are some items I'm lusting after just now. I've always wanted a Smythson diary, I love everything about them such as: their practical & portable size, the layout on the left hand page with your weekly schedule and a ruled notes page opposite titled 'To Do'. I also love how it's held together in a stunning Hibiscus leather binding. NEED!!! I'd also love a parker fountain pen to go with it, I have terrible handwriting but with a fountain pen it looks slightly better.

Does anyone else have an extravagant wish list just now? Or is that a silly question?! :P

New design.

Friday, 11 February 2011

Hi everyone, just a quick post about my new design. I had been wanting to update the look of my blog and make it more 'me' and personal. After looking at some of my favourite blogs such as WishWishWish I decided to do the same and simplify things and strip it back so that everything was clear and simple to access. Lauren had mentioned in her blog post that Tabitha was an amazing girl to contact if you wanted something illustrated specially for you, so after double checking with her that this was ok, I got in touch with her. Tabitha was super fast and lovely to talk to, she understood exactly what I wanted and I'm soo pleased with the new look of my blog. I love how the design incorporates my two loves, writing and tea.

I'd also like to say a huge thank you to my boyfriend's lovely Mum who created my new blog button for me. It's stunning and I hope you guys might enjoy displaying it on your blogs. Do let me know if you have ;) I hope you guys enjoy my new layout!!

P.S I decided to remove buttons for now, but anyone's button I was displaying, your links are on my lovely links page

Friday happenings..

Happy Friday! How quickly has this week gone?? I can't believe it's already Friday. This is what I wore to Uni today, I said on my last post that I'd give you a better look at the dress I bought last week. I love it and I can't wait to wear it more in summer. I customised the Primark cardigan I'm wearing, I decided to change the buttons to those little leopard print ones. I think it makes it look much nicer as the buttons it came with looked a bit tacky.

I had Creative Writing today, we're reading Legend of a Suicide which is quite a good book but as the title suggests it's quite dark. I really enjoy the class Creative Writing, but I hate reading my work out in class, for some reason I get so nervous and I can feel my heart thudding against my chest so hard. Ah!! Hate it. I'm not really a shy person, but for some reason I get really shy and nervous in class. Oh well..

On a couple of other little notes, if you check out my support influence page you'll see that I have a new blog button. It was specially designed for me by my lovely bf's mum Lynne, who is a fantastic artist, I really love it and I'd love to know what you think.

Also I wanted to know how you would like me to reply to comments? Sometimes I get asked questions and I always reply to them in my comments box but would you prefer if you asked me a question for me to reply on your comment box on your blog? Let me know :) Also you can ask me anything here on my formspring

Have a great weekend everyone!! xx

Harvey Nichols

Wednesday, 9 February 2011

That car is made of little toy horses.

I'm in love with the new Harvey Nichols window display in Edinburgh. They're so imaginative and creative with their displays, it must be so much fun to design these. Thanks very much to Lynne for sending me these amazing photos.

Ten things that make me happy..

Tuesday, 8 February 2011

Happy Tuesday! I'm feeling pretty good today as I finally got round to doing my fitness dvd, I decided to do the Davina Fit workout and I felt amazing after it. It is now officially back into my weekly routine. I have a few friends' 21sts coming up soon, so I need to tone up if I want to look good in some of the dresses I've got my eye on.

I've seen a few posts recently (thanks to Gem) about what makes you happy. So I decided to share what's making me happy just now with all of you this week, instead of my usual ten things I love post. So here they are :)

1. Being a columnist for my Uni newspaper. It's a challenge to come up with new goals for each issue but it's so rewarding when you see it in print.

2. Having curly hair. My hair is naturally straight but after years and years of having the same hair style I decided to change it up, so I got my hair permanently waved. I freaked out a bit at first but I've grown to really like it.

3. Having clearer skin thanks to these great Neutrogena products. Bad skin makes me so miserable and I've tried everything to get nice clear skin and even forked out over £50 on Proactiv. Despite using it religiously it didn't work for me at all, but Neutrogena products seem to really do the trick & recently my skin has been looking really fresh and healthy.

4. Getting the fitness bug again!! Nothing beats the feeling of 'post workout' ;)

 5. Of course, you can't work out and be super healthy all the time. These cupcake books are full of scrummy recipes and I love making them as a weekend treat now and again.

6. Speaking of sweet things, here is my little bunny Bailey. He always brings a smile to my face! (However, judging by his grumpy face here I don't think the feeling is mutual...)

7. I got my lovely little mini for my 21st Birthday back in October. I've enjoyed having a car so much as it gives you so much freedom to go where you want without having to plan a complicated public transport route. My bf and I are always planning little weekend trips away..

8. My bf Olly, he's amazing and I love living with him. I'm definitely happiest when I'm with him

9. My beautiful bag, I'm still so smitten with it.

10. MY BLOG!! I love the blogging community. Thanks so much for all your support.
