Steady as the flowers..

Jacket - Topshop (really old), Top - River Island, Jeans - Topshop, Bag - Mulberry, Shoes c/o sarenza - Carvela

Here's a few photos of what I wore today, quite a casual outfit as I had a lot of running around to do. My jeans look a lot lighter in these photos than they actually are in real life. I don't think I like them in these pics actually..

Considering it's only Wednesday this week has had its fair share of ups and downs. The stress of fourth year has really caught up with me and yesterday was just one of those days where nothing seemed to go right. Even the season finale of PLL was a bit of a let down, totally saw that twist coming!! On the positive side though I got some exciting news over the weekend. I've been told that a short story of mine is going to be published in the debut issue of Octavius mag, which is great! It's a literary mag that's going to showcase a variety of fiction and poetry pieces from scottish students. I'm really thrilled my piece got chosen to be a part of it!

In other news I've got an amazing giveaway coming up on the blog tomorrow, featuring my current favourite jewellery store Wired Jewellery. Make sure you keep an eye out for it :)

Everyday skincare..

Tuesday, 13 March 2012

So I've been asked a few times about what skin care products I use. I find my skin can be quite temperamental and recently due to a fair bit of uni stress I've found my skin has been worse for breakouts than usual. However, these are a few of my favourite products at the moment..

1.) Clinique Anti Blemish Solutions - This is a pretty good range, I like it mainly because of the three steps. I find that the cleanser and toner can be quite drying though so it's really important to use the moisturiser. The Clinique moisturiser is great as it has no oil in it and you only need a small amount to cover your face. Does it get rid of all spots? No. But it definitely does help.

2.) The Clarisonic Mia - I think this product deserves a post on its own due to the price tag. I luckily got it as a gift for Christmas! I've been using it since December and I've found that it's definitely helped get rid of any blemishes under the skin. It's also brilliant for removing every bit of makeup from your face. When I use my Clinique toner after cleansing with the Mia there's literally no left over makeup what so ever. I try use it twice a day but I don't think you need to use it as much as that. For me the sensitive brush is a good fit since I like to use it more regularly. I'd definitely recommend this product!

3.) Some other favourites. Cliniques pore minimiser is great and does exactly what it says, I've had this tube for over a year so it does last too. I don't use it everyday, only when I feel I need it. I find it works instantly and the formula has a nice non greasy consistency. The Body Shop's Vitamin E Night Cream - I really like this product but it is rich and probably not suitable for everyday use. I'd recommend putting it on an hour or so before bed to let it soak in. My skin always feels really soft in the morning after using this and it's also great for fading marks too! Sudocrem - a great cream for blemishes and it's really cheap! I've done a full review here on the Hydrating Serum by Avene, also a lovely product.

Dress - Miss Selfridge, Cardigan - Primark, Bag - Mulberry, Necklace - Wired Jewellery

Here's a few photos of what I wore to uni today. I bought this dress on a bit of a whim a few weeks ago. I love the maroony red colour of it and the fact it can be worn smart or casual. I seem to wear my bullet quartz necklace with everything these days too. Speaking of which there will be an opportunity on my blog really soon for one of you guys to win this amazing piece. Keep your eye out for it, I'll be positing the details in the next few days.

So this week has been full of big and exciting news. First off Olly got offered his dream job! Which is amazing. It's crazy to think that out of the thousands of people who applied, he managed to get through and land one of the positions. I'm so happy for him! Secondly, I've been asked to take part in Write Now, part of Aye Wright! Glasgow's Book Festival. I'm going to be performing one of my short stories at it tomorrow. It will be my first public reading, so I'm pretty nervous. I don't really enjoy public speaking but sometimes you've got to push your comfort zones, especially when it's a big opportunity like this. If you're interested I'll be publishing the short story I'm reading on my new writing blog, which I'll be launching asap. Thanks very much to those of you who have asked about it, it's great to know people are interested in my writing.

Helpful Quotes..

Tuesday, 6 March 2012

I thought I'd share some of the quotes I've got saved on my desktop. I love reading through quotes, I always find they help things 'click'. I think everyone should have a quote book or a folder on their desktop that you can go to when you need a little inspiration..
